About

Merica Clinkenbeard

I’ve spent my career in education working alongside teachers, leaders, and communities in the ongoing effort to support students in meaningful and lasting ways.

Over time, I’ve come to understand that this work is rarely simple. Systems shift. Priorities change. Challenges emerge that don’t have clear answers.

And yet, the purpose remains.

That understanding has shaped how I lead, how I listen, and how I continue to learn.

Much of my experience has been rooted in multilingual education, which continues to influence how I think about leadership, systems, and the importance of centering students in everything we do.

Through that work, I’ve seen firsthand the importance of:

  • centering students in every decision

  • building systems that support, not limit, opportunity

  • and ensuring that equity is not just discussed, but lived out in practice

These experiences continue to shape how I think about leadership, learning, and the responsibility we carry in this work. And over time, I’ve become less interested in quick solutions and more interested in what lasts.

For me, that work is grounded in purpose.

It’s found in the conversations we have, the decisions we make, and the ways we choose to show up, day after day, for the students and communities we serve.

Because in the end, the goal is not just to lead well, but to ensure that the work we do continues to matter long after we’ve stepped away.
